HYKOM tab → pick grade band → Continue (path unit), Today’s mix (spaced 10 questions), or open any unit from Browse.

• Short sessions (~10 items). Free replay on ear drills by default.
• Mastery = recent fluency ≥ 80% over the last sessions (at least two attempts) — green check on the path checklist.
• Path is recommended order in stages (See & hear → Rhythm → Meter → Keys & chords → Write & transfer). Browse stays open — no hard locks.
• Aural drills use listen first — answers stay dim until Play has been tapped.

Share a link so students land on the right band and drill. On the path card, tap Assign to copy one, or use patterns like these:

Optional query pieces (add after the drill path):

• level — middle, fresh, or senior (grade band)
• contest — 1 limited replays, 0 free replays
• path — contest (default) or ap (senior order only)

Links only set settings and open a drill — never exam content. Skills match contest types; every item is original. contest=1 locks limited dictation replays until unlocked. On the path card, tap Week for a five-day pack, or finish a session and Copy for teacher.

Band changes content and difficulty, not just length.

• Intervals — melodic and harmonic; pool grows with grade band.
• Scales — major / natural / harmonic / melodic minor by band.
• Triads & sevenths — quality; inversions for older students.
• Meter theory — simple vs compound, beat groups, note values (written). Rest fill — complete the bar. Meter (ear) — accented click patterns → time signature.
• Dictation — key + first note given; longer phrases by band (6–10 notes); pitch & rhythm scored separately.
• Pitch match — hear a note, play or sing it back with the mic (±45¢, short hold).
• Error detection — written note vs sounding pitch: match or mismatch (AP-shaped).

• Note reading — staff + notehead; ledgers and accidentals by band.
• Read triads — name major / minor / dim / aug from a written stack (W6-shaped).
• Triad inversions — root / 1st / 2nd from a written stack.
• Roman numerals — diatonic triad in a key → RN (inversions on senior).
• Chorale RN — short original chorale fragment → RN (cadential ⁶₄ on senior).
• Cadences — authentic, half, plagal, deceptive (PAC/IAC on senior).
• Harmonic dictation — hear block chords → Roman numerals.
• Key signatures — read both keys; write mode (count + kind of accidental).
• Write a scale — ascending with accidentals (not a signature).
• Terminology — tempo, expression, instrument families.
• Transposition — concert → written for common band keys.
• Phrase transpose — short concert line → your part.

• Rhythm (ear) — hear a pattern, name it.
• Read the rhythm — name the written pattern (eye).
• Tap the rhythm — listen, count-in, tap the pad; free-tempo timing scored.
• Rhythm dictation — hear clicks, rebuild with duration chips (notes + rests).

Is HYKOM free? Yes. Full practice cents toolkit (tuner, metronome, record, journal, HYKOM) is free in the browser and as a home-screen PWA.

Is this UIL test material? No. Drills cover contest-type skills with original items — never copied exam material or audio.

Where is progress stored? On the device (browser / home-screen app). Use Settings backup or optional sign-in for cloud backup when available.

Phone only? Designed for iOS Safari Add to Home Screen first; desktop works too.

• Scores stay in this browser / home-screen app.
• Share — tray icon on the path card (not a big button). One progress line for parents or teachers.
• Reset — under Course checklist (open the list). Type RESET to confirm. For shared classroom devices — not on the main path.
• App export / import includes HYKOM when changing phones.

Best for individual practice or 1:1 lessons (one student, one device). Shared iPads OK; not a multi-user class system. Match the grade band to the student; assign path units, not “finish everything.” Pitch match needs the mic; other drills work offline after first load.
